TipTop Driving School has operated since 1997, founded and led by Tibor Kolosai. The Budapest branch brings that same approach into city driving: experienced instructors, clear guidance and patient teaching. Learning to drive is never the same journey for everyone. Some learners need more time, others need more confidence. The school adapts to that with a practical, calm and human approach.

About the training

Entry requirements

Minimum age is 16.5 years — you can take the final traffic exam from the age of 17.
At least 8 years of primary education are required.
You need a valid medical fitness certificate from your GP.

Medical fitness check

A short, routine check with your general practitioner.

KRESZ theory course (e-learning)

Online learning from home, at your own pace, with 180 days of access

What you study:

Road rules and traffic situations
First aid basics
Technical fundamentals

Theory (KRESZ) exam

This is a computer-based test and it is very manageable with proper preparation.

Your first exam attempt must take place within 9 months of registration, and you have 12 months to pass successfully.

Exam format:

55 questions
Maximum 75 points
At least 65 points are needed to pass

First aid exam

Organised by the Hungarian Red Cross, it gives useful real-world knowledge.

Topics include:

CPR and resuscitation basics
Treating common injuries
Handling accident situations

Practical driving in Budapest

Once you pass theory, you can start driving lessons with an instructor beside you from the first lesson onward.

Mandatory minimum:

29 required lessons
- Plus the exam lesson

Vehicle control and manoeuvres
City traffic situations
Confident decision-making in live traffic
